“We’re also a team. It’s a team. It’s a great team. It’s a team that gets along, and as I said during my inaugural address, this is not about party. This is not about ideology. This is about country, our country, and it’s about serving the American people.” – President Donald Trump
Anyone audacious enough to use the word team that often must really have a kick-ass team. You can just see the president’s confidence growing as he utters each successive “T-E-A-M”. This group, nay team, awaits their swearing-in on the morning of January 22nd, each member picked through the president’s genetically-endowed wisdom, coming together as one, not two or three but one, like the pre-civil war Avengers or Cobra. Be it ideology or blind partisanship, they will address the problems and cure what ails the American people.
The Vice-President follows, his voice echoes through the East Room of the White House, the words of this righteous Christian Crusader elevating mere campaign staffers into the real kingdom of god: The White House. These advisors will help guide this administration, like a set of angel wings steering bullets through the air before they canoe the head of some Arab-looking, presumably military-aged male, in true Seal Team 6 style.
What better place to start addressing the problems than the “liberal media?” Outlets like MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times, Washington Post and others, branded by detractors as tools of the liberal establishment, uncritically supporting liberalism, and unfairly criticizing voices that diverge from their narrative.
An influential role in President Trump’s election, followed by high-level responsibilities in the administration, but never once an ounce of ideology infecting his judgement or that of the administration. Bold.
Never mind if it’s apt to classify these outlets as “liberal media.” Such semantic disputes should be cast aside. Although, these organizations have aligned themselves with some of the most powerful political and financial interests which, come to think of it, may help explain the divide between those left behind for decades by the establishment, and others content with having their partisan political views played on repeat. Underrepresented portions of the population have sought out different outlets, ones that reflect their sentiments, with some lucky few finding a new, comfortable home.
Breitbart News has become a vehicle for the alt-right, a group that has ascended from the fringes to become a political movement that boasts the sitting president as its scion. Alt-righters have departed from the tired, Fox News-brand of conservatism. Culture that caters to the lowest common denominator will be America’s downfall. Concrete identity is lost through integration with the despicable “other” and unwavering business interests. By prioritizing homogeneity and nationalistic pride, the belief is that the strength of the American people will grow.
Protecting culture means limiting those nationals which pose a threat to westerners. Be they actual threats or a burgeoning group of CEOs from Asia, it is important to restrict freedoms only to the select few that had the privilege of being born in the west. Otherwise, the United States of America—grounded in democratic principles and accepting people escaping the most calamitous situations—risks being built on immigration.
Efforts to brand and normalize the alt-right as a run-of-the-mill nationalist movement have been in the works for some time. Such efforts were bolstered by media outlets that gave a platform to its boisterous supporters—including President Trump—who espoused many of the movement’s central themes throughout the presidential campaign. But how about that team?
Like starting a media outlet with the goal combating the mainstream media’s anti-war bias, some causes are worth fighting for and this was certainly one of them.
Perhaps there is none greater in Trump’s team than the recently sworn-in chief strategist and senior counselor Steve Bannon, who formerly served as executive chair of Breitbart News. At the Republican National Convention in July 2016, Bannon noted that Breitbart News is “the platform for the alt-right.” An influential role in President Trump’s election, followed by high-level responsibilities in the administration, but never once an ounce of ideology infecting his judgement or that of the administration. Bold.
While on a trip to Israel in 2005, Andrew Breitbart and Larry Solov planted the seeds for Breitbart News. It dawned on the founders that an unflinching pro-freedom stance was severely lacking. In apparent seriousness, they had grown tired of the mainstream media's anti-Israel bias.
Threats of extremism, caliphate cubs (not to be confused with bears traversing U.S. school grounds), and pesky liberal scientists pale in comparison to the devil, who clearly is in need of some reckoning.
Quite the noble goal it was, starting a media outlet to combat the anti-Israel bias of the mainstream media. Like starting a media outlet with the goal combating the mainstream media’s anti-war bias, some causes are worth fighting for and this was certainly one of them.
One sided coverage is seen regularly in the mainstream media, and coverage of the Middle East is no exception. The reporting of Ayman Mohyeldin from Gaza in 2014, which led to NBC pulling him from the region for tweeting accounts of children being blown apart, is just one example of what can happen if a journalist decides to report what they witness.
This is about the real news, the news that never gets the attention it should. Take Obama, who shamelessly released to the Palestinian Authority a whopping $221 million on his last morning in office. One shudders to think how the dilapidated Israeli army, with its antiquated armaments and limited capabilities, will be able to withstand onslaughts in such a lopsided struggle. From walls to population control, noble western examples exist that can shine light on the best path forward.
The devil is in the details, or in this case on the front page of Breitbart’s National Security section. Threats of extremism, caliphate cubs (not to be confused with bears traversing U.S. school grounds), and pesky liberal scientists pale in comparison to the devil, who clearly is in need of some reckoning. A priest, who has relinquished the devil some 6,000 times, needs a platform to voice such concerns. After all, this is not about ideology or party allegiance, it’s about the real issues affecting the American people.
It is important to be critical, and understand that we face difficult times. Perhaps the media should just "keep its mouth shut" and listen for a change, accept the facts from the purveyors of these high-minded ideals, and disregard minor, inconvenient truths. This is bigger than just a few individuals. This is about a non-ideological team, with the support of a brave and definitely non-ideological news outlet, that will strike terror and fear into those migrant terrorists that threaten the liberty of the free world. This team will bring to us an America that is first, battling extremists through extremism and displaying sentiments that match the enemies so committed to western culture’s destruction.
